The first week at home is a blur of very little sleep and an enormous amount of love. Here is what I wish someone had told me.

It is slower than you think

You will not get anything done, and that is exactly as it should be. The washing can wait; the cuddles cannot.

Be gentle with yourself. Everyone is learning at once — you, your partner, and a tiny person who has never done any of this before.
